John R. Nelson, P.E., Esq. is an engineer and attorney with a wide breadth of experiences in both business and the community. John received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from the University of Florida, his MBA from Clemson University, and his Juris Doctor from Barry University – School of Law. John worked in a specialty chemicals manufacturing environment with a keen eye to waste and solvent recover. In Greenville, South Carolina he managed an environmental engineering firm focused on Title V air permits, point source discharge permits, and stormwater management plans. In 1996 John started an aviation software company which he later sold then became Chief Product Officer for an aviation fuels company. Today, John works as a hands-on developer, patent attorney, and and software company owner.

John has served on the

· Southeast Volusia Chamber of Commerce

· Southeast Volusia Kiwanis

· Coronado United Methodist Day School Board

· President of the 1,300 home Waters Edge Homeowners Association

John is a father of five, a long-distance bicyclist, pilot and resident of Port Orange.
